My first article for The Crisis on Rion Dennis p. 42
Special thanks to Lottie Joiner for connecting with me and inviting me to do a piece for The Crisis. Dennis is the field director for the Mid-Atlantic region that includes Maryland, D.C. and Virginia. I learned so much about Dennis and what he stands for when I spoke with him a few months ago for the article. The former intern for former D.C. Councilman Kevin Chavous, turned activist and leader is one of the key people involved in influencing the state of Maryland to abolish the death penalty. He has a lot of exciting things planned for the region in his new position with the NAACP; including wanting to help D.C. in fighting for voting rights and statehood.
