So remember when I talked about the blog and conversation forum Beyond Baby Mamas? Well I did a guest blog that was posted today. I talk about how I never thought I would have to navigate my way through stereotype statements and assumptions due to the fact that my daughter and I are two different complexions. I also touched a bit on my social awkwardness towards other mothers, especially the ones of my daughter’s classmates.
Thanks to Stacia L. Brown for creating such a positive and informative space for single parents. I love the “movement” she has started and hopes that she can press further with it.

Read the post and I loved it! I too can relate becuase I’m “chocolate” and my daughter is “golden brown” but our love is colorless. My only suggestion, don’t let your issues become hers because she will have her own struggles but with a mom like you, she will succeed no matter what. Keep up the great work and try to step outside that box. My friendship with moms of my daughters friends have shown her how to interact with other black women in the opposite fashion from what she sees on tv. You are her greatest role model, enjoy the moments and grow together!!!
